As the result of not playing their last game against Trebanos and, therefore, failing to complete their league fixtures before the end of the season, Penlan RFC were called to account before the Regulatory Committee of the Welsh Rugby Union.  While we await official written confirmation, we have been advised that we have been penalised by the deduction of all the 98 points that we had earned during the season and reduced, therefore, to the bottom of the league with zero points.  This means that ... I was deeply dissapointed, to say the least, to learn that our Coach had called off our game this evening away to Trebanos.  We sustained some injuries on Saturday and, apparently, there were just not enough players who were available due to work committments so he made the decision to call the game off.  This is the very last thing that Penlan wanted to happen but it appears that there was no other alternative. PENLAN ARE NOW DIVISION 5 SOUTH WEST LEAGUE CHAMPIONS

Trebanos played Neath Athletic this evening and lost by 7 to 17 which means that, even if they win all their remaining 3 games with maximum bonus points they can only reach 86 points.  That means that they cannot overtake Penlan who are now on 88 points with 3 games in hand so Penlan can now claim the WRU Division 5 South West League Championship which they more than deserve.  Congratulations to all players and supporters.
